Fillers
The fillers from HP-Textiles are versatile additives for synthetic resin systems. In particular, quartz sand is used as a filler or scattering agent and enables the production of polymer mortar, the scattering of surfaces, as well as the imitation of mineral substrates. With different grain sizes, the use can be adapted to the specific application.
Quartz sand – Filler and scattering agent for synthetic resin systems
Properties of quartz sand as filler for epoxy resin
Quartz sand offers high versatility as a filler for synthetic resin systems. It can be added to the mixed resin system to adjust the consistency or used as a scattering material on the still tacky epoxy resin surface. With a density of approx. 2.7 g/ml and a bulk density of approx. 1500 g/L, the material is stable and reliable in use. The grain sizes 0–1 mm and 1–2 mm provide flexibility, allowing both fine and coarser structures to be achieved.
Application areas of quartz sand fillers in construction chemistry
The quartz sand filler is suitable for the production of polymer mortar, the scattering of surfaces, and the imitation of mineral substrates. It is therefore used in many construction chemistry projects, such as floor coatings, filler systems, or in the design of functional surfaces. By adjusting the grain size, the filler can be applied in both decorative and technical applications.
Application of quartz sand fillers as scattering agent and filler
In practice, the quartz sand is added as a third component into the resin system until the desired consistency is reached. Alternatively, it can be scattered onto the still tacky epoxy resin surface to create a grippy and even structure. The dosage depends on the requirements and the specific application. In this way, both polymer mortars with a defined composition and slip-resistant surfaces can be produced, which also provide a visual enhancement.
