Priming Wax
Primer wax – ideal base for release agents and safe demolding
Why is primer wax so important in composite manufacturing?
Using primer wax like HP-G offers many benefits in mold preparation and release performance. It serves as an absorbent primer for porous, textured, or difficult-to-wet surfaces and ensures uniform adhesion of subsequent PVA films like HP-PVA. The matte, dry protective film prevents bonding with epoxy, polyester, or PU systems. Especially for complex shapes, uneven structures, or sensitive substrates, HP-G enables safe application. It is also silicone-free, making it perfect for follow-up processes like gluing, painting, or coating.
Our selection of high-quality primer waxes for reliable demolding
Our HP-G primer wax is applied sparingly with a lint-free cotton or linen cloth – alternatively with a brush. It forms a thin, strongly adherent layer that provides an optimal base for PVA release films. The drying time is approximately 5 to 15 minutes, depending on temperature and humidity. No polishing is required – the surface remains matte. Consumption is around 30 ml/m², but can vary based on surface texture and application amount. For maximum demolding safety, we recommend combining it with HP-PVA release lacquer. The product is suitable for processing temperatures from +15 °C to +30 °C and withstands up to 100 °C in use.
What are the benefits of primer wax in the composite sector?
> Ideal preparation for porous or structured moldsHP-G creates a perfect base for PVA release lacquers – even application, clean separation layer, no adhesion.
> Residue-free use without polishing
After curing, no post-treatment is required. Residues can be easily removed with XB thinner.
> Compatible with various resin systems
Suitable for epoxy, polyester, and PU resins – perfect for many composite applications.
> Easy, streak-free application
Can be applied with cloth or brush – no special tools needed.
Where is primer wax typically used?
Primer wax like HP-G is used wherever a reliable separation layer for PVA lacquers is needed: in mold making, model production, boat building, laminating, prototype development, or series production with GFRP, CFRP, wood, metal, or PU tools. It improves wettability, protects delicate molds, and ensures even release performance. Especially for repeated demolding and in combination with HP-PVA, it’s an indispensable helper for professionals and beginners alike.
