Vacuum Bagging Film

Vacuum films are an essential component in modern composite manufacturing. They form the top layer in the vacuum layup and enable the creation of a tight vacuum seal, optimizing resin distribution and air evacuation within the laminate. HP-Textiles offers a comprehensive range of high-tensile polyamide (PA) and polyethylene (PE) films, specifically developed for vacuum infusion, vacuum bagging, and the MTI® process. Thanks to their temperature resistance, flexibility, and chemical resistance, they are suitable for both complex geometries and large-scale components.

Tubular vacuum film – Fast processing without wrinkle formation

Tubular vacuum film is pre-shaped and can be easily pulled over the part, eliminating the need for time-consuming pleating. It is ideal for long or rotationally symmetrical components such as pipes, masts, or profiles. HP-Textiles offers various versions, including:

  • HP-VFT50/030: 50 g/m² PA tubular film, width 30 cm, tube Ø 19.10 cm

  • HP-VFT50/060: 50 g/m² PA tubular film, width 60 cm, tube Ø 38.20 cm

  • HP-VFT50/090: 50 g/m² PA tubular film, width 90 cm, tube Ø 57.00 cm

  • HP-VFT70/150: 70 g/m² PE/PA/PE tubular film, width 150 cm, tube Ø 94.20 cm

  • HP-VFT75/150: 75 g/m² PA/PE/PA tubular film, width 150 cm, tube Ø 94.20 cm

All variants are highly flexible, stretchable, and temperature-resistant up to 120 °C – ideal in combination with perforated release film, breather fabric, and infusion mesh.

Flat vacuum film – Universal for any part geometry

Flat vacuum film is extremely versatile and suitable for a wide range of part sizes. It is placed directly over the vacuum layup and sealed airtight at the edges with vacuum sealant tape. Available options include:

  • HP-VF70/260: 70 g/m² PA/PE/PA film, width 260 cm, yellow transparent

  • HP-VF70/400: 70 g/m² PA/PE/PA film, width 400 cm, transparent

  • HP-VF70/600: 70 g/m² PA/PE/PA film, width 600 cm, yellow transparent

  • HP-VF70/800: 70 g/m² PA/PE/PA film, width 800 cm, yellow transparent

  • HP-VF75/260: 75 g/m² PA/PE/PA film, width 260 cm, transparent/yellow

Thanks to their high tear strength and elongation, even large molds can be securely sealed under vacuum. The films can be folded multiple times without losing their seal integrity and maintain constant vacuum pressure throughout the entire curing process.

Application of vacuum film in composite layup – Reliable resin control and constant vacuum supply

Whether tubular film or flat film, both serve the crucial purpose of sealing the laminate completely airtight within the vacuum bagging process. This ensures that vacuum pressure remains constant, allowing resin to fully penetrate the reinforcement fibers. In vacuum infusion, this results in optimal fiber wet-out, minimizes air entrapment, and improves the mechanical strength of the finished part. At the same time, it creates a smooth, defect-free surface. HP-Textiles vacuum films are chemically resistant to all common epoxy, polyester, and vinyl ester resin systems, and withstand high curing temperatures.

Product range, processing benefits, and applications of HP-Textiles vacuum films

HP-Textiles vacuum films are available in a wide variety of widths, material constructions, and film thicknesses to precisely match each application – from narrow moldings to large laminates such as boat hulls, wings, or wind turbine rotor blades. Thanks to their high flexibility, even complex contours and 3D shapes can be covered wrinkle-free. When used with vacuum accessories such as shut-off valves, vacuum gauges, vacuum hoses, and resin distribution systems, they enable an efficient, stable, and reproducible composite manufacturing process. This makes them the first choice for boat builders, aerospace engineers, automotive developers, wind energy manufacturers, model builders, and industrial composite producers who demand process reliability, part quality, and production efficiency.
