Notes on processing:
The HP-PUR-PLUS-TEXTUR can be applied directly to the fresh epoxy laminate (epoxy resins from HP-Textiles). For an optimal bond without intermediate sanding, the last layer of the underlying epoxy coating must not be older than 24h (at max. 20°C ambient temperature). A firm but still slightly sticky substrate is ideal. If the coating is applied after 24 hours, the entire substrate must be sanded, otherwise the adhesion may be too low.Notes on the application procedure:

Why HP-PUR-PLUS (Polyurethane)?
Polyurethane coatings are particularly suitable for coatings of pools or swimming ponds. The HP-PUR-PLUS easily withstands the high demands, such as the mechanical stress caused by pressure or the extreme stress caused by strong UV radiation. An epoxy or polyurethane coating not only helps to prevent moisture from penetrating into the building structure, it also makes it more difficult for biological substances to settle, which are a basis for vermin, fungal and mould infestation. In the long term, the fabric of the construction can be protected by using HP-PUR-PLUS coatings.
Which colours are available?
Over 190 different RAL colours can be mixed and delivered. If the pool is exposed to high levels of sunlight, we advise against using too dark colours, as there may be large differences in temperature above and below the water in the pool or pond.
Can I apply a 2K system (resin + hardener) to an existing 1K layer?
It is generally not recommended. 2K coatings are usually much harder than 1K coatings and due to the different properties cracking and chipping can occur. In addition, the solvent contained in 2K lacquer can soften the 1K substrate and following might cause irritation of the surface. With a simple test it can be checked whether the old coating is a 1K or 2K coating: Press a cloth soaked in acetone onto the varnish for at least 1 minute. If the surface remains unchanged, it is a 2K coating. If the paint dissolves or curls after a short time, the substrate is a 1K coating and therefore unsuitable for 2K. Old 1-component coatings must therefore always be removed completely!
Does it make sense to apply the paint as thick as possible?
When applying the paint, ensure that the paint is rolled up evenly and not too thick. If the layer is too thick, the entire varnish cannot react with oxygen and therefore cannot harden. This would result in blistering and an uneven colour image. Later, it can even lead to flaking. Tip: It is better to apply twice thinly than once too thick! It should be noted that the first layer should be tack-free before applying the second layer. The second layer must be applied within 24 hours (at 20°C) before the first layer hardens.
The colour of the coating fades within a short time. What can be the reason?
The HP-PUR-PLUS has a very high resistance to chemicals and UV light. In the pool area, incorrect chlorination can cause the colour to fade. For this reason, the chlorine content and pH value should be measured regularly. The optimum value for chlorine is 0.3 - 0.6 mg/l and pH 7.0 -7.6. If these values are maintained, you can enjoy the colour stability of the PU coating for years.
